PDC bits
DERIS designs and manufactures its own PDC bits. The sizes range from 3 inches to 26 inches. According to different designs, the geological conditions and design features used, DERIS PDC bits can be divided into the following main types:
Standard PDC bits: This type of drill bit is suitable for general geological conditions
High-pressure PDC bits: Heavy-duty PDC drill bits generally have higher polycrystalline diamond density and thickness, and are suitable for high-wear rock environments.
Non-guided PDC bits: This type of drill bit has no guiding ability and is usually used in vertical wells or small-angle drilling. It is suitable for use in straight drilling.
Pilot PDC bits: Used for direction-controlled drilling (such as horizontal wells or directional wells)
These drill bits are widely used in oil and gas drilling, geological exploration, water well drilling, mineral resource drilling and other fields
Production process of PDC drill bits
Polycrystalline diamond synthesis:
The key to PDC drill bits lies in the manufacturing process of polycrystalline diamond, which is usually manufactured by high temperature and high pressure (HTHP) synthesis technology under high temperature (about 1500°C) and high pressure (about 5-7 GPa) conditions. This technology forms a polycrystalline structure by combining diamond powder with metal.
Drill bit design and processing:
The design of PDC drill bits involves selecting suitable PDC materials and tool layout. The cutting edge of the drill bit is composed of multiple PDC pieces. Designers choose cutting edges of different shapes, numbers and angles according to different geological environments to optimize the drilling effect.
Tool welding and assembly:
The tool of the PDC drill bit is to firmly weld the polycrystalline diamond cutting piece to the metal matrix through laser welding technology. The welding process of the cutting piece requires high-precision control to ensure the durability and stability of the drill bit under high temperature and high pressure drilling conditions.
Quality control and inspection:
PDC drill bits undergo strict quality control and inspection during the production process. This includes inspections of the hardness and toughness of the PDC material, the overall structure of the drill bit, assembly accuracy, and other aspects to ensure that each drill bit can work stably during the drilling process.
